Rebecca Ellison has worked in a variety of visual art media, including stained glass, pencil and ink drawings/pointillism, acrylic painting, oil and chalk pastel, mixed media murals on canvas and pottery. She has designed and created backdrop sets and logo designs for numerous events, including fundraising galas and school celebrations. Rebecca particularly enjoys designing and creating mixed media pieces with a wide variety of materials. Many of her commissioned and purchased pieces can be found in private collections.
Rebecca combines her background in occupational therapy and work with special needs students in the CBE with her love of visual arts to promote health and wellness through the arts no matter what your age, stage or abilities may be! She believes that EVERYONE has something to share artistically...sometimes just a little encouragement is all that is needed!
Rebecca currently works as a CBE artist-in-residence and as sole art instructor at Inglewood Art and Music School. She is a Level 1 Learning Through The Arts artist-educator on the CBE Artist Roster, member of the Creative Aging Calgary Society, associate member of CAIT (Creative Arts and Integrated Therapies). She has enjoyed giving back to the community through the arts: Garrison Green Seniors Community, Studio C (Mental Health through the arts), and now collaborating with Accessible Housing Calgary.
"The Art and Science of Water" mural featured on CBE website
The 16 foot mural I created with 23 Grade 1-4 students was part of Water Celebration Day at Cranston Elementary; the culmination of student inquiry work over the course of the 2012/2013 year.
